1. ‘Bridging the Gap animation Lab’ opens submissions for projects


The international animation lab ‘Bridging the Gap (BTG)’ has opened its call for developing animation projects from all over the world to participate in its second edition, which will be hold in Valencia (Spain) in 18th – 23rd July. You can find the details from below:


2. Toonz goes Open Source

Digital Video (Rome, Italy), the makers of ‘Toonz’, and DWANGO, a Japanese publisher, announced that they have signed an agreement for the acquisition of Toonz by Dwango. Toonz is an animation software which was independently developed by Digital Video. They agreed to close the deal under the condition that Dwango will publish and develop ‘OpenToonz’, an Open Source platform based on Toonz. OpenToonz will include features developed by Studio Ghibli (*Toonz Ghibli Edition) which has been a long time Toonz user.

3. End Cue acquires #1 Blacklist script Bubbles for stop-motion animated film

Andrew Kortschak and his production company, End Cue based in the USA, have acquired Bubbles, Isaac Adamson’s original screenplay about Michael Jackson told from his chimpanzee Bubble’s perspective. The film will be produced by End Cue along with Dan Harmon and his Starburns Industries. The film will be made using stop-motion animation, in the vein of Starburns’ 2015 Oscar-nominated film Anomalisa.
