1. TriggerFish Story Lab announced Story Lab shortlist

Triggerfish Animation Studios has shortlisted 23 features and 12 TV series for the Triggerfish Story Lab, out of 1,378 entries from 30 countries across Africa. In December 2015, Triggerfish will announce the final Story Lab participants, who will start the new year with a two week trip, including mentoring from key studio and television executives, at Disney’s headquarters in Burbank, California.

2. Autocomplete hand-drawn animations

Jun Xing, Li-Yi Wei, Takaaki Shiratori, and Koji Yatani will present Autocomplete Hand-drawn Animations at SIGGRAPH Asia 2015. It is an interactive drawing system that helps users produce animation more easily.

3. International collaboration for the 2D animated series of World of Thingies

Fuel Entertainment and DeNA announced collaboration on a new animated series, World of Thingies. The animated series will be released worldwide in a 2D eleven-minute episodic format. This will have global expertise from Fuel Entertainment (USA/Canada), Moody Street Productions (Australia), Vision Animation (Malaysia) and DeNA (Japan), and is targeting a global audience within the boys 5 to 9 age demographic.

4. French film The Little Prince hits $10.8 million in China

Cartoon Brew reported that The French animated feature The Little Prince reached $10.8 million in a week after its launch in China.

5. Spain’s Neox Kidz airs Mutant Busters

Mutant Busters is co-produced by Planeta Junior, toy manufacturer Famosa and animation studio Kotoc in collaboration with Neox Kidz. Animation Magazine reported that Neox Kidz will air Mutant Busters (52 x 11) on Saturday, October 31, following the launch of the series’ first webisode on Atresmedia Television on Saturday, October 24.

6. Animasia Studio joined Magiki project

Animation World Network reported that Animasia Studio signed a deal with Zodiak Kids to co-produce a new animated series titled Magiki. This will also be co-produced with DeAgostini and Rainbow in Italy as well as Planeta in Spain.

7. Crunchyroll & Sumitomo made a Strategic Partnership to Produce Animation for the Global Market

Crunchyroll, Inc., the online platform for Japanese content, and Sumitomo Corporation, Japanese trading and investment business enterprises, announced a new joint venture to produce animation for the international market. Crunchyroll distributes anime immediately following Japan TV broadcast in seven languages to a global base of over 700,000 paying subscribers and 10 million viewers monthly.

8. DisneyLife announced for UK

DisneyLife offers a digital membership which grants access to the collection of Disney movies, kids’ TV box sets, music, books and apps.
