1. Amazon’s New Pilot Season starts
Amazon announced the lineup for its next pilot season. These new shows include five animated series which are scheduled to debut on 17th June exclusively on Amazon Video in the US, UK, Germany, Austria and Japan. Animated pilots are The Curious Kitty and Friends, Jazz Duck, Morris and the Cow, Toasty Tales and Little Big Awesome. All pilots will be available via the Amazon Video app for compatible TVs, connected devices and mobile devices, or online at Amazon.com/amazonvideo.
2. Global deal on new animated Mega Man™ Series
DHX Media Ltd. (DHX) and Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc. announced a global deal to develop, co-produce, distribute and jointly manage licensing for a new Mega Man™ animated series based upon the legendary Capcom’s video game franchise. Under the terms of the deal, Dentsu Entertainment USA and DHX will manage all global rights for the new animated series. Distribution and licensing in the United States will be handled by DHX in collaboration with Dentsu Entertainment USA. Dentsu Inc., parent company of Dentsu Entertainment USA, will manage distribution and licensing in Asia. DHX will manage distribution and licensing in all other territories.
3. Disney EMEA acquired 3D animated series Cracké
Kidsscreen reported that Canada-based animation studio Squeeze has licensed its 52 x one-minute 3D animated comedy series Cracké to Disney EMEA. Beginning next month, the series will broadcast on Disney Channels in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
4. Animated Garfield to be produced
Alcon Entertainment in the USA has secured exclusive rights to produce animated theatrical motion pictures based on the comic strip Garfield. Alcon acquired the rights from the creator of the Garfield comic series and brand, Jim Davis, who will also serve as an Executive Producer.
