Produced and directed by Pavel Sadílek, and written by Petr Kolečko, The Birth of Heroes carries strong messages of importance of believing in yourself and power of team spirit. Sadílek tells that the initial idea of the film came to him while seeing his son. “When I saw my son, how he was looking for available information about Nagano, and seeing how upset he was, that he could not be there, I thought it would be great to make a film, that would retrieve memories. I would like everyone who will see the movie to be able to relive his/her/ones Nagano”.

The film will be created in cooperation with Czech Olympic Committee, Czech Ice Hockey Association and Robert Zaruba, Czech famous ice hockey commentator from Czech Television. SE-MA-FOR studio known for two Oscar winning short-animated films (Tango (1980) and Peter and the Wolf (2008)) form Lodz (Poland) is involved in production. It is scheduled to premiere in February 2018 to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of winning the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics.
